Room Sign Purpose and Materials
Elevator directional signs, such as this accessible elevator to left sign, are required by §216.7 of the standards. Basically, if not elevators are compliant as defined in §407 then you need to provide signage meeting the visual character requirements in §703. This sign meets those requirements and blends with your other Green Dot signs creating aesthetic continuity. The standard recommendation is to include a directional sign at every point a client may turn one way or another. In other words, at every point your client faces a decision to turn or not, use signage like this accessible elevator to left sign.
Above all we make your life easy, so of course we produce all types of elevator bank floor level signage. By their nature these are custom projects. Please give us a call or visit our custom sign page and complete the form and we can make either blade or hanging signs as your situation requires. The more information you provide the better, for instance, if you have photos of the area and typical viewing distance that helps us to design effective signage.
Additionally, this sign uses the newer, modified International Symbol of Accessibility (ISA). We prefer the new ISA, and it is required in New York and Connecticut. Outside of NY and CT check if it is okay to use the active person in a wheelchair pictogram with your local building inspector.
If you are looking for a non-directional elevator signs, or signs directing to the right, please check out our general elevator signs category.
This sign is eligible for our end of life recycling program. When your sign needs change simply ship your signs to us and we’ll take care of the rest.
We first plane the raised sign elements off the wood base and dispose of them responsibly. Next, the wood sign base is shredded and the wood fibers get re-used as animal bedding, then as fertilizer, and finally they return to the earth as soil. We hope you can appreciate this is more responsible compared to the fossil fuel derived plastics used in most ADA signs. To make it easy to participate in our product recycling program we extend a 10% Green Dot Sign® credit for the value of the returned signs. To learn more or get started, visit our Eco-Friendly Approach page and expand the “recycling” section at the bottom.
